The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO Commissioner Kim Wan-ki) announced that it will hold a kickoff meeting at 1:30 PM on August 1 at the headquarters of Saltlux Co. Ltd. (Songpa-gu Seoul) to discuss the successful development of a super-large AI-based patent examination support service.

This kickoff meeting is part of the ‘2024 Super-Large AI-Based Service Development Support Project’ supervised by the Digital Platform Government Committee and the Ministry of Science and ICT and promoted by the National Information Society Agency (NIA).

To accelerate the implementation of AI in the public sector and the realization of a digital platform government KIPO formed a consortium with Saltlux Co. Ltd. and ZenIP to participate in this project. The consortium was selected from a highly competitive pool with a selection ratio of over 10:1.

The kickoff meeting will be attended by Lee In-soo Director General of the Intellectual Property Information Bureau at KIPO Min-jong Kim Vice President of Saltlux Co. Ltd. and Jong-goo Jung CEO of ZenIP. The meeting will share detailed project plans for developing the AI-based patent examination support service and discuss cooperation among consortium members.

KIPO Implements AI-Based Patent Examination Support Service...Expecting Improved Accuracy and Efficiency

The patent examination support service will combine patent-related data such as laws examination guidelines commentary on clauses consultation casebooks and applicant opinions held by KIPO with the super-large language model Luxia developed by Saltlux.

Through this AI is expected to quickly provide patent examiners with relevant information along with its sources thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of examinations.
